About this bottle

Gran Dovejo Reposado Tequila is a reposado tequila from Mexico in our spirits range. It is bottled at 40% ABV, in a 750 ml bottle. Producer tasting notes — on the nose: A delightful bouquet with cinnamon, roasted agave, white pepper, mango and roasted pineapple lead into similar flavors on the palate; on the palate: This is a very complex tequila, with pineapple, mango and papaya fruit complementing the agave, pepper and cinnamon notes; finish: A hint of caramel flan and oak make an appearance midway through, before a medium finish of cinnamon, baking spice, and toasted oak ends things.

Serving & pairing

Sip blanco chilled or in a Margarita; reposado and añejo are best neat in a tulip glass. Pairs with ceviche, tacos al pastor and dark chocolate with chilli.

Blanco, reposado or añejo — which tequila should I buy?

Blanco (silver) is unaged and shows the freshest agave flavour — best for Margaritas and Palomas. Reposado (2–12 months in oak) adds light vanilla and works neat or in cocktails. Añejo (1–3 years) and extra añejo (3+ years) are rounder and oakier, best sipped neat.

Summer garden

A gin I cannot buy on the high street.

“A citrus gin that barely shows up in the States. Spirit Hives listed the botanicals, I ordered a 700 ml, and it became the house G and T. Not cheap. Completely worth it.”
Hannah W.Contemporary gin
Case order

The case made more sense.

“I drink the reposado enough that a single bottle was a habit. Switching the option to a case at Spirit Hives dropped the unit price and I stopped running out mid-month.”
Carlos M.Reposado tequila, 6-pack
Tasting night

Tequila I finally sipped.

“An anejo, neat, orange slice, no shot glass. Friends scoffed until the second pour. Two of them have since ordered their own from Spirit Hives.”

Rum for cocktails

They said no age statement.

“Other shops would have fudged it. Spirit Hives wrote that there was no age statement and priced it like one. I trust a shop that tells me what the producer did not print.”
