Producer tasting notes — on the nose: Big heaps of cherries and vanilla, with subtle notes of leather and tobacco; on the palate: Rather hot at first, the spices coming to the forefront. Serving & pairing
Rye’s peppery spice is the classic base for a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned. Pairs well with charcuterie and dark chocolate.
Rye versus bourbon — what is the difference?
Both are American whiskeys aged in new charred oak. Bourbon must be at least 51% corn, which gives sweetness; rye must be at least 51% rye grain, which gives pepper, spice and a drier finish. Canadian whisky is often called “rye” by tradition even when the mash bill contains little rye.
